In memory of dear Mark Son of our lovely colleague and friend Nurse Practitioner Lesley Tanton As Practice nurses we endeavour to continue the fight against deadly diseases such as Meningitis with the childhood vaccination program. We were delighted with the recent addition of two new vaccines to the routine schedule -Meningitis B for babies and Meningitis ACWY for teenagers ( in addition to the other routine Meningitis vaccines Hib, Meningitis C and PCV) The old Men C vaccination programme of 3 doses under one was very successful so there are now very few cases of Men C. The new university term is beginning so we will be offering Meningitis ACWY to all freshers and students under 25 years old. Hopefully all universities will apply for a MARM toolkit from 'Meningitis Now' to help raise awareness amongst students and staff. As practice nurses we will continue to educate and vaccinate as many people as possible in the fight against disease. We think Meningitis Now is an amazing charity offering lifesaving information and support free of charge whenever it is needed. Helen Coles Practice Nurse.
